Are you responsible for data integrity on deliveries of fresh/frozen food or other temperature-sensitive products to or from your kitchen, factory, warehouse or supermarket? Would you like to digitally log product temperatures with a handheld device AND produce an instant paper receipt at the same time? If the answer is YES, make a saving of around £50 when you buy the NEW MM7010 Bluetooth Logging Thermometer Print Combo.
The MM7010 is a Bluetooth, high accuracy logging thermometer which can store up to 1,000 timed and dated measurements at a time. No more pen and paper recording – just download to your nearest PC, mobile phone or PDA as soon as you’re ready.
The MM7010 is supplied complete with Excel compatible software for easy integration with your existing database. It is IP65 waterproof and combined with dishwasher-safe probes, gives a robust system for a variety of settings – from food to pharmaceuticals.
For goods-in, delivery and storage, TME has a wide range of compatible probes, especially: Needle Probes (TP05) for core temperature, Flat Food Probes (TA12) for between pallets/boxes and Food Simulant Probes (TFS01) for temperature replication.
TME’s new MM7010PRINT bundle combines this powerful thermometer with a compact (35mm) printer. The MMPRINT Bluetooth Printer enables you to produce date, time and temperature measurement receipts on the spot, as you take/supply deliveries. It’s supplied complete with 2 print rolls (which can be supplied separately), charger, data cable and wall/belt mounting kit.
Case Study - Food
The margins for error on food safety are increasingly narrow. Never before have goods moved so far and through so many hands. At every stage reliable and portable temperature testing is the key to a successful food safety audit. Food standards and regulations like HACCP require proof of safe temperatures from fork to plate. In response to this challenge, TME was the first thermometer company worldwide to offer a comprehensive Bluetooth Thermometer range, further enhanced by this great money-saving Thermometer/Printer Combo for both print and digital compliance.
TME Managing Director, Tom Sensier: “Full safety of perishable goods requires high standards in temperature monitoring, which is exactly what a British manufacturer like TME can deliver. High performance solutions like the MM7010PRINT offer the quality, practicality and value every business requires because in a competitive supply chain, product integrity isn’t just important it’s vital.”

Estate Managers at Guernsey’s Princess Elizabeth Hospital have installed TME’s TC Wall Ports as part of their legionella risk management compliance strategy, enthusiastically adopting TME’s TC Wall Port System to simplify testing of hard-to-access pipes. It’s cheap to install, produces instant results, fewer false negatives and crucially, removes the need to take down panelling or work at height.
Water Safety Technician, Roger Le Tissier: “The size and spread-out nature of our site makes a supply on demand hot water system impractical so what we have instead is a hot supply and return system where hot water is kept constantly flowing around the loop. Our Water Safety Plan requires us to have a minimum temperature on both supply and return, which is so much easier with the TC Wall Ports because we don’t have to remove the panels to get the results.”
How does the system work?
TC Wall Ports are miniature, wall-mounted thermocouple sockets which speed up and simplify temperature testing of hard to reach locations like concealed pipework including TMVs, subordinate loops and high-level water storage tanks. Each port measures just 52 x 52 mm and houses either a single or double thermocouple connector, linked to any given water outlet using a length of fine wire with a fixed surface, air or immersion sensor. Temperatures are taken by simply plugging a hand-held thermometer into the port, delivering instant results with no loss of accuracy from up to 20 metres away.
Double TC Wall Ports are the most recent addition to TME’s Legionella Range, featuring two thermocouple inputs instead of one, offering an ideal solution for hot and cold pipe monitoring.
TME MD, Tom Sensier: “TC Wall Ports are quick and easy to install and even easier to use. The results are instant and there are also far fewer false negatives as the fine wire sensor is left taped in situ directly attached to the pipe surface.”
Alongside a number of UK NHS Trusts and Local Authorities the States of Guernsey, have been early adopters of the system. “We’ve been very impressed with the Wall Port System,” says Clive Martin, Head of Estates. “Both the single and double wall ports, which we use with TME’s legionella thermometer kits and dual purpose surface/immersion probes.” TC Wall Ports have been installed especially to help monitor subordinate loops, one of the most difficult challenges in water safety management. “We have over 800 subordinate loops alone, and many are located behind closed panelling, which previously would need removal every time a temperature was taken.”
What about versatility?
TC Wall Ports are compatible with any thermocouple input thermometer although for manual spot checks TME recommends its MM2008 with integral 1 and 2 minute timer - particularly useful for running water tests. They are also ideal for paperless temperature recording, easily achieved by applying a label with a unique configurable barcode to each port, used to record and store temperature readings with TME’s MM7000-2D Barcode Scanning Thermometer.
Crucially for Water Safety Plans, using a barcode to record temperature checks is ideal for proof of flushing as it proves that recording has actually taken place, reducing the possibility of human error or falsified results, while maintaining a body of data for analysing compliance. For continuous 24 hour monitoring and temperature profiling, the ports are also compatible with thermocouple input data loggers.
Is the system affordable?
With unit costs as low as £16-25 per water outlet the affordability of the T C Wall Port System speaks for itself.
Tom Sensier: “The low cost of TC Wall Ports makes them a very affordable option for both retro-fit and new-build. Use them to complement an existing BMS or to plug the gaps where none exists; solve problems on an individual ward or install them across your entire estate. Long term savings in time and labour are guaranteed.”

Testing electric drives in real-life applications
OJ Electronics is currently putting the finishing touches to its latest expansion of the company’s in-house test facilities. Spanning no less than 340m2 of floor space in a building that has been converted for the purpose, the new test area will focus especially on electric drives but will also be used for test of other ventilation applications as well as thermostats for electric floor heating.
Martin A. Jensen, Senior Quality Manager at OJ Electronics, explains: ‘We’ll use the facility to conduct a wide range of tests, but we will focus mainly on electric drives, testing them in various applications that echo those of our clients – and use their actual products in different combinations. For example, we will install and test set-ups with fans ranging from 500W to 15kW, checking their uses in ventilation units, as rooftop fans for ventilation in houses and agricultural facilities, and rotor applications for heat recovery.’
Keeping tests running for longer
Having a larger test area allows the company to keep more set-ups running for longer, making it easier to test the various solutions’ durability and performance over time: ‘We will create set-ups where we carry out 1,000-hour tests and 5,000-hour tests; that way we can monitor long-term results and catch any potential problems before they’ll ever affect our customers.’
A major investment
The expanded facilities exemplify OJ Electronics’ ongoing devotion to development, regularly funnelling funds back into research and quality assurance: ‘It’s quite an investment for us; we’re spending some 80,000 EUR on these test facilities. But at OJ Electronics, we’ve always prided ourselves on making solutions that reflect our customers’ real life and real applications, and our new test facilities makes it even easier for us to do just that: we can now create an even wider range of set-ups where we combine our customers’ many products in different constellations, testing them to determine which drive works best for each solution.’
