One of the least known applications of Electricfor's Electric Heating Elements, which is directly related to  ATEX certification in explosive environments, is  plastic injection.

HIGHER HEAT DISSIPATION
In this case we are talking about  aluminium casted heating elements that ease heat transmission and allow a higher load per cm², as they have a better heat dissipation. Optionally, these heating elements, which are specially designed for explosive environments and therefore ATEX-certified, can be equipped with  cooling tubes symmetrically arranged inside the heating element to provide uniform cooling throughout the entire cast body.

DESIGN OPTIONS
Regarding their design options, the shapes can vary and be totally customized according to the needs of each project. The  L-shaped designshown in the attached photo is normally used in square and rectangular extrusion moulds.
In addition,  clamps can be designed with external fins for faster cooling.

Aquaflame Systems provide solutions for micro soldering and acrylic flame polishing through a range of products. The Aquaflame range are high performance gas-generating units, producing a high temperature flame – in the range 1200-3300°C.
 
Employed extensively in the jewellery, dental and other technical manufacturing industries, the Aquaflame range provides solutions for individual traders and small retailers through to larger manufacturers.
 
As a side issue to current Brexit concerns, and as an integral part of recent production re-structuring, the team at Aquaflame found they had supply problems with simple carry handles needed for their equipment, which can weigh up to 30kg. At the same time, they identified case alignment problems associated with handle fitment in conflict with the internal assembly – identified as taking an extra 15 minutes per unit.
 
Explained MD Barry Peck “We found assembly and supply problems traced back to a simple handle and could not resolve these to our satisfaction so we looked around for a UK based company with a standard ex-stock product at a competitive price. Fortunately, we found Elesa whose sales engineer called round quickly and offered a simple low-cost solution to our handle problems, which saved us money on each machine.”

It was in 1933 when the first internal cylindrical grinder type 01 was delivered from Fritz Studer AG. 85 years later, STUDER presents with a product range of 12 machines probably the largest portfolio in the world for internal cylindrical grinding.

Kptec Components GmbH from Schorndorf (Germany) is a component manufacturer for the machine tool industry. The focus is on spindles, rotors, spindle casings, connecting rods and flange parts. The core competence is grinding. Walter Wiedenhöfer, Managing Director of Kptec Components, explains that consistently achieving tolerences in the micron range (40mill") in production is the great challenge in grinding." In the production of spindle components, coaxilities under one micron (40mill") are state-of-the-art. It is often necessary to grind an H6 fit into bores up to 400 mm (15.7") deep for the clamping interface mechanism. In addition, the machine should manufacture as economically as possible. In other words: You should only handle the component once and then completely finish it in one step. But a good machine should also flexible to enable it to handle uncommon operations such as the grinding of slots in a spindle too. One machine that meets such requirements is the universal internal cylindrical grinding machine S151. Fully equipped, it has three internal and one external grinding spindle, as well as a measuring probe. It convinced Kptec. Today Wiedenhöfer says: « The machine is the best we have in the company – it was absolutely the right decision to buy a STUDER machine. »

The Universal
STUDER has the right machine for every demand in internal grinding. In the universal range, these are the S121, S131, S141 and the S151. The inexpensive universal S121 is the ideal machine for internal, face and external grinding of chuck components. The S131, S141 and S151 form a product range for every imaginable application in internal cylindrical grinding. They are used where very high precision and efficiency are required – for example, flange parts, spindle shafts, spindle housings, rotor shafts, bushings and much more. The maximum workpiece weight is 250kg (550lbs) and the maximum workpiece length is 1300mm (51.2").

For production
The S110 is a very flexible and compact internal cylindrical grinding machine ideal for chuck applications for indivudual parts or small series production. Thanks to its small footprint it will fit in any workshop. S122 specializes in small bores and is equipped with a swing diameter of 220 mm. It offers state-of-the-art technology for the processing of small to medium-sized workpieces in small to large-scale production. Both types can handle up to three grinding spindles in a parallel arrangement, which allows for external and internal grinding in one clamping. "Price, quality, technical standard – that was our selection criteria for a new machine. The biggest advantage is the high production capacity", says Miroslav Martinek, Production Manager at Sellier & Bellot, explaining his investment decision in an S110.

Three sizes for radii
The S121, S131 and S141 are the experts for high-precision internal cylindrical grinding of radii, spheres, cones and diameters. The maximum swing diameter is 400mm (25.6") and the maximum workpiece weight is 100kg (220lbs). The main areas of application are in the production of drawing dies made of tungsten carbide and ceramics and the production of hydraulic components such as axial pump pistons, guide plates, housings made of hardened steel, grey cast iron and copper. Complex workpieces made of industrial ceramics, sapphire and tungsten carbide for the manufacture of human implants are also within the scope of applications. The automatic B-axis with direct drive allows grinding with interpolation for the high-precision machining of radii. The Radius grinding machines are supported by the Software StuderSIM. A S131 – with an option for radius grinding – is installed at AKS Hartmetalltechnik GmbH in Schwbisch Gmünd. "The sophisticated CNC technology of combining various operations in a single clamping and thus acheiving maximum precision These criteria convinced us. The set-up times, maintenance costs and downtime are now calculable. We also benefit from the rapid response times of STUDER Customer Care", explains
Production Manager Edgar Feifel.

Solid design
The internal cylindrical grinding machines are based on the Granitan® machine bed with its excellent damping proprieties and the StuderGuide® guideway system. Its huge advantage over hydrostatic guideways is the damping component in the direction of movement. The dressing process can be flexibly and optimally adapted to the workpiece, tool and material-specific properties - according to the customer's wishes. Another Studer speciality are the grinding wheel reference points (T numbers). This enables programming with normal dimensions, which considerably simplifies the programming of grinding programs. The workhead can be moved on the swiveling B-axis in the longitudinal direction, has a high roundness accuracy and is low in maintenance. An air cushion lift-off facilitates simple movement during setup and resetting.

Sophisticated sensor technology monitors the process of grinding and dressing and provides an easy detection the grinding wheel and workpiece position. The contact detection serves the purpose of cycle-time reduction. The modular spindle concept enables optimal adaptation to the grinding task. The direct drive in the grinding spindle turret head guaranties the smallest positioning variation for the radius and universal grinding machines (except S110 / S122). In the S122, the efficient high-precision processing of small diameters is also possible due to the proven grinding arbor deflection compensation.

Loading systems are available for automation that, due to their modular design, can be adapted exactly to the machine application and process. The appropriate periphery ensures seamless integration into the production process.

Everybody a grinding expert
For the operation of the machine, it is no longer necessary to be a grinding expert. All you have to do is know is the specifications of the part and what the surface finish should be at the end of the process. StuderTechnology recommends the optimal grinding parameters and generates the program. StuderWIN offers the possibility to fully integrate the measuring control and also sensor technology for process monitoring, such as contact detection and balancing systems, into the user interface. This allows uniform programming of the different systems. StuderWIN is supplemented by the grinding software StuderPictogramming. The operator lines up the individual grinding cycles together - the control generates the ISO code. The functionality of the machine is increased with the Software option for form and thread grinding. The StuderSIM software was specifically developed for the internal grinding of radii. This way of programming guarantees great flexibility with the highest user experience. After programming, the process can be simulated and optimized. This gives reliability and guarantees short programming times and consequently an increase in profitability.

Conclusion
There is hardly a workpiece that cannot be processed with the STUDER internal grinding machines. The Swiss grinding machine manufacturer offers the right machine for every imaginable application. Very pleasant for the operator is the optimal ergonomics, which further increases the relative value of the machines.

Sophisticated heat conductor geometry and application of an extremely thermally conductive special silicon are amongst the determining quality features of the newest generation of silicon heating elements from hotset. This gives users in railway technology, the food industry and telecommunications in particular, a highly efficient solution for surface heating of the innovative thermodynamic systems provided by well-known companies. The flexible mats ensure above-average uniform heat distribution, while easily adapting to curvatures and edges with reduced energy requirements.

How to reliably protect parabolic antennae and piping from frost? How to keep liquid chocolate in a flowing state? And how to ensure that switch contacts in railway tracks are kept from icing? The technical answer to all these questions - and many others - is the newest generation of hotform silicon heating elements from the manufacturer from Lüdenscheid. These flexibly installable, thin mats are now available in conventional standard formats (rectangular, square, etc.) as well as customised or product-specific designs with cut-outs and perforations. Unlike many presently available heat mats, the new hotform silicon elements offer many significant improvements. For instance the special coiling of the integrated heat conductor – this is the technological core element of the mats - is an added innovation resulting from the most recent findings from a university research laboratory that hotset has been collaborating with for many years. The result is heating conductor geometry that provides an exceptionally homogeneous distribution of heat in the surface area. Stephan Westphal, hotform Product Manager, provides an idea of what this means in practice: "Whether a surface is flat or arched, whether it has edges or curves - our new silicon heating elements always generate an even, balanced warm or hot area that does not exhibit any major temperature differences. This is very crucial, for instance in process and fluid technology."

Very reactive formula
The second major advantage of the new hotform heating mats from hotset is the special formula of the silicon being used. it is a highly conductive and thereby quick reacting material. In other words: This special silicon transfers the heat generated from the heat conductor coils to the surface being thermo-regulated with exceptional speed. As a result, the overall energy expenditure for the whole heat transfer also lowers! "Moreover, the heating elements can be designed to be much thinner than previous mats thanks to the improved silicon; so far, our lower limit is just 0.4 millimetres", Stephan Westphal adds. In addition, the UV-resistance and high ageing and weather resistance of the special silicon are nearly natural features.
Another important advantage of the new hotform silicon heating elements from hotset is their above-average high temperature stability. Although they are designed for use within a temperature window of -60 °C to +200 °C, they can also be utilised for thermal peak loads of up to 270 °C. "Under ideal operating conditions, both the special silicon as well as the interior heat conductors are suitable for these temperature ranges", Stephan Westphal says assuredly. With this high level of temperature stability, new silicon heating elements for application areas previously beyond the realm of what was possible are now being considered. (hotset test series are currently being performed with various household devices - for instance waffle irons.)

Outfitted with all the certificates
The new hotform heating elements from hotset are generally very easy to install and comply with a large number of important industrial standards and directives. EN 45545 in particular is relevant for use in railway technology (switch de-icing, step-area heating, etc.) and FDA-conformity is essential for installation in food technology systems and processes. In addition, water resistance as per IP67 is of importance for many applications in telecommunications, information technology and microelectronics.

These are designed to protect endangered insects, particularly bees, and to promote species conservation and biodiversity.
 
ISO-Chemie’s owners, Josef Deiß and Dr Martin Deiß, have declared this sustainability initiative to be a management issue and have instituted a series of measures to protect the environment. They are receiving significant support from the company’s employees who have taken on a number of environmental projects at their head office. According to Dr Martin Deiß, CEO of ISO-Chemie, “With our sustainability initiative, we are taking a series of pragmatic steps to assume responsibility at our site for a future worth living for generations to come. We are currently focussing on the protection of endangered insects.” Dr Deiß explains,
“We have created an insect hotel and wild flower meadows to provide nesting sites and a source of food for wild bees. We have also set up a hive on the green roof of our company building. Our Development Manager, who is an enthusiastic beekeeper in his spare time, has taken over responsibility for this.”

The majority of ISO-Chemie’s sealing products have been rated as awarded the prestigious GEV environmental classification of “very low emission”. As a result, both users and clients can be sure that these products do not give off hazardous substances into the ambient air. The Aalen-based family business has also issued an environmental product declaration (EPD) for its entire range. The EPD discloses a comprehensive balance of all environmental impact associated with its production. It also provides information about the positive effects on energy consumption and thus on the environmental balance of buildings.

SMART Automation Austria in Linz is Austria’s only trade fair for industrial automation. That makes it an important platform for Mayser to reach existing and potential customers in the alpine republic. At this year’s SMART Automation Austria from 14-16 May, 2019 our sales partner Urmet Dialog will present safety products from Mayser, with the focus on ultrasonic sensors and sensor profiles.

Last year, Mayser continued the development of its ultrasonic sensors to meet the growing requirements for the protection of people and property in the use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) – including a new special software routine: If two independent AGVs encounter each other, the software eliminates any possibility of mutual interference .

At Serman & Tipsmark, we are sometimes given larger projects – as when we recently developed and delivered a large, complex robotic test system.

Fully automatic module tester
The test system is a fully automatic module tester for a larger Danish customer, used for fully automatic testing of the customer’s ready-assembled module units – without any form of manual handling. The test system can handle 50 module variants. Specifically, it tests for pressure loss for flow with up to 15 L/min and for leakage down to 5 ml/min.

The testing time is considerably shortened because the robot does the job and feeds the system. The robot also makes the test more specific because the same motions are repeated. On a screen, the customer can follow the process of the test and make sure that everything is OK. In that way, you can keep track to see if the module is approved or has any errors. In case the system finds errors on a module, it is placed on a special conveyor belt. In the back of the test system, there is easy access to valves, meters, pumps and filters. All of the test system’s electrical installations are combined in one special cabinet as seen in the video below.

Large experience leads to larger jobs
It is far from the first time we, at Serman & Tipsmark, have developed and delivered a test system om the caliber. We have long tradition of advanced systems and have the right competencies to build them. That is also one of the reasons why the customer chose us for the job.

Universal and flexible. These are the features of the new S33, the CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine from STUDER. It can grind small to large workpieces in single batch, small or large series and is available with centre distances of 400 mm (15,7") / 650 mm (25.6") / 1000 mm (40") / 1600 mm (63") and a centre height of 175 mm (6.9"). The changeover from grinding between centers to live spindle grinding takes place in record time. Complex workpieces are easily ground in just one clamping.

The basis for the universal cylindrical grinding machine S33 is the machine bed made of solid Granitan® S103. Thanks to its favorable thermal behavior this offers a high degree of dimensional stability, short-term temperature fluctuations are largely compensated for by the mineral casting. STUDER has redesigned the machine base geometry and supplemented it with an innovative machine base temperature control. This ensures a fast and stable production. The mounting of the dressing unit on the double T-slot of the longitudinal slide massively reduces the time needed for setup or changeover of the machine.

A wide range of wheelhead configurations
The S33 is based on the STUDER T-Slide concept. It now has an extended X-axis stroke of 370 mm (14.5") STUDER offers various wheelhead versions. The turret wheelhead with a 1° Hirth coupling and automatic swivel, can accommodate up to two external and one internal grinding spindle and is also equipped with the latest generation of contact detection. The external wheelhead with a grinding wheel right, can be manually set to 0° / 15° / 30° The machine setup and changeover costs can be reduced thanks to the turret wheelhead with multiple grinding wheels and the fast setup software Quick-Set. The S33 can easily handle internal-, external- and face grinding in one clamping which leads to an even higher efficiency in complete machining. The C-Axis, with an option of either a direct or indirect measuring system, allows the grinding of forms and threads. The S33 can also be equipped with a chuck workhead specially designed for grinding chuck parts.

Convincing software
More than a hundred years of grinding experience is integrated in StuderWIN, which enables safe programming and efficient use. StuderTechnology requires just a few parameters to automatically calculate precise grinding parameters in just seconds. Good quality is assured from the start, as is a stable process right from the beginning. The optional integrated modules such as StuderForm, StuderThread or StuderContourBasic extend the functionality of the machine. The hand-control device PCU makes it possible to set up the machine close to the grinding process. With electronic contact detection, downtimes can be reduced to a minimum. With the standardized loader interface, the S33 can also be automated.

The new S31 handles complex and versatile grinding tasks precisely and reliably. It can produce small to large workpieces in single batch, small or large series and is available with centre distances of 400 mm (15,7") / 650 mm (25.6") / 1000 mm (40") / 1600 mm (63") and a centre height of 175 mm (6.9"). With a high-resolution B-axis of 0.00005 °, the swiveling wheelhead makes efficient external, internal and face grinding possible in one setup.

The basis for the universal cylindrical grinding machine is the machine bed made of solid Granitan® S103. Thanks to its favorable thermal behavior this offers a high degree of dimensional stability, short-term temperature fluctuations are largely compensated for by the mineral casting. The turret wheelhead can be equipped with several grinding wheels. Thanks to the grinding wheel set-up software, STUDER Quick Set, the changeover times are reduced by up to 90 percent. With the new S31, you grind different diameters and any taper with just one grinding wheel and without time-consuming intermediate wheel dressing. This is made possible by the direct drive on the B-axis with a positioning accuracy of < 1 arcsec.

The Elesa ELEROLL package of rollers and ball transfer modules is designed to greatly simplify installation and use of this type of widely used conveyor system. The modular ELEROLL roller conveyors allow easy and quick joining of units to create loading and unloading areas in the construction of machines, storage and retrieval systems or packaging machines. The main components of the roller conveyors are constituted by sliding elements, which are either rollers or balls, for bi-directional or multi-directional (omni-directional) movement of heavy parts, packages or sheet materials.

The roller elements, suitably fixed inside the RLT-AL aluminium profiles, create modular roller tracks for passive handling (both as sliding or containing surfaces), suitable for several applications in different fields: feeding and discharging benches in construction machinery, storage and picking systems, packaging machinery, etc.
 
RLT-U-PA roller elements are also suitable for handling heavy packages, RLT-U-TPU roller elements, with rollers in anti-scratch material, allow the handling of delicate materials such as glass and wood.
 
The low friction coefficient between the roller and the roller holder eliminates the need for lubrication maintenance – while the particular section of RLT-AL profile, allows the snap-in assembly of the roller elements into the profile without the need for screws or other fasteners. Therefore, the roller elements may be quickly and easily removed and replaced, without disassembling the entire roller track.
 
The roller elements may be divided between individual wheels, so as to create roller tracks of precisely the required length.
